Moon Over Madness

The month’s full moon has come and gone and that peculiar malady known as March Madness almost is upon us.

Selection Sunday and spring’s annual Big Dance are just around the corner, after America’s college basketball conferences wipe up some unfinished business of their own.

Most leagues with postseason tourneys begin competition on Thursday.

Las Vegas oddsmaker Ken White says it’s “easy” to forecast the NCAA Tournament’s top four seeds: Florida, North Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State.

“And when I say that, I’m ranking them in order,” he noted.

Ohio State (27-3) currently sits atop the Associated Press’ national hoops poll, but White is sticking with Florida (26-5) to again win it all.

The Gators have dropped three games in the last three weeks to SEC opponents Vanderbilt, LSU and Tennessee.

“Teams need something to play for,” White theorized.

“Florida already had its division clinched and already had lost a conference game (to the Commodores), so they couldn’t play for an undefeated (league) season.

“There wasn’t any motivation.”

The Buckeyes, he says, are starting an all-freshman team, while the defending champion and sixth-ranked Gators are laden with experience.

“If they were playing tomorrow, Florida would be a 3 1/2 to 4-point favorite,” White declared.

The managing partner of Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which supplies lines to a great majority of Nevada bet shops as well as clients elsewhere, thinks the ACC is is the USA’s leading conference, while the SEC is its most underrated.

“The thing is the SEC has some good teams (in the Eastern Division), but The West is weak,” White said.

“The Big 12 is very good this year and the Big 10 is the weakest.”

White believes bettors still can find a few futures values, though he claims the best time to shop was closer to the holidays.

“The best time to buy futures is in December or early January,” he said.

“I’ve been pushing Georgetown for months, for example, but the number has really sunk.”

The Hoyas, 40/1 in January, are now 8/1.

Texas A&M, another club White has been high on, also is 8/1, down from 25/1.

Two teams the handicapper-turned-oddsmaker considers legitimate sleepers are Pitt and Louisville.

“Pittsburgh has the talent to win it all and right now Louisville is playing as well as anyone,” White said.

“I really like their coach (Rick Pitino).”

The 13th-ranked Panthers (25-6) are holding steady at 18/1, while No. 12 Louisville (22-8), winner of six straight since losing to Georgetown a month ago, has dropped from 100/1 to 25/1.

White also cautions players not to overlook No. 21 Duke (22-9).

The Blue Devils, perennial contenders under Coach Mike Krzyzewski, are having a down year by school standards, but White says they shouldn’t be ignored.

The Mirage has Duke at 15/1, half the 30/1 it was a month ago.

“And watch out for Maryland (24-7),” White said.

The Terrapins, national champs in 2002, are ranked 17th.

Nevadans need look no further than their own backyard to find teams capable of making some tournament noise, the oddsmaker adds.

Both state schools are among the country’s Top 25, with Nevada (27-3) ranked 10th and UNLV (25-6) 25th.

The Wolfpack has tumbled from 50/1 to 30/1, while the Rebels remain at 100/1.

“UNLV looks like it will get a decent seed now,” White said.

“For a while it looked like they might have to play a top seed or No. 2 in their first game.”

As for the Wolfpack, White couldn’t find enough positive things to say about star Nick Fazekas.

“He can do everything,” White said.

“Whoever gets him in the NBA draft will be getting a real steal.

“I thought for a while he might go in the Top 5, but he’s been pushed down.

“He’ll still go in the first round, though — somewhere between 15th and 25th — and I see him having having a 10-year career averaging 16 to 18 points a game.

“He’s a great team player.”

Those seeking more of a sure thing can always turn to nearby UCLA.

The Bruins, who lost to the Gators, are 26-4 and ranked fourth.

They’ve slipped from 8/1 in futures books to a current 9/2.

“I have UCLA as a second-tier team right now,” White said.

“They should get a No. 2 seed, maybe No. 3.”

White also notes the days of laughing at Winthrop are over.

He says the Eagles, who have made seven tournament appearances in the last nine years, could be this year’s version of George Mason, the 2006 “Cinderella team.”

“They’re the long shot,” White said.

Winthrop cracked the rankings in 24th this week, but was still 750/1 at the Mirage.

Hanumaan Saves His Devotees

Saturn is the most dreaded planet as it inflicts sorrow and pain. Its impact can be long lasting and very painful. It can be only borne by persons of great strength, determination and patience. When ever Saturn gets a chance( always through temptation) when a person fails a test, there is calamity. The process is not open and Saturn’s slow intrusion is always shadowy. However shadowed and mysterious he may be, Hanumaan had him in his death like grip and diverted Saturn’s attention else where, away from his devotees.

There are many tales associated with Hanumaan and Saturn in Indian Mythology. However Hanumaan strides across the pages of the epic Ramayana like a colossus. His image on one hand is that of complete obedience and devotion and on the other hand his courage is matchless. So let me depict one from Ramayana.

One day Rama and his army of monkeys were engaged in making preparation for crossing the vast Indian Ocean to go the Lanka in order to rescue Sita who the demon king Ravana had abducted. Hanuman was also sorting boulders that could be used so that a bridge could be built over the ocean. While all were busy, Saturn was taking his rounds. He came across Hanumaan who was working and Hanumaan happened to be in Saturn’s way. Saturn requested Hanumaan to move so that Saturn could continue on his way. To this request Hanumaan agreed but only after he finished doing what was his duty.

Saturn was used to having his way with all mortals as fear of Saturn’s wrath cowed all humans. He was amazed at the audacity of this monkey. He demanded that Hanumaan comply with his request at once or face dire consequences. The Martian energy of Hanumaan came to the forefront and his temper rose. He looked at Saturn and his vice like grip closed around the feeble neck of Saturn. Saturn dangled in the air and gasped for breath. Saturn realized that he would surely die unless there was divine intervention. He prayed to Rama and begged for his life. Rama sensing Saturn’s crisis, came up to Hanumaan and asked him to let go of Saturn.

Hanumaan obeyed Rama and dropped Saturn to the ground but not before he extracted a promise from the terrible and sorrow inflicting Saturn that he would never come near or look at Hanumaan and his devotees. Saturn complied with folded hands and went on his way after saluting Rama and Hanumaan.

This is one of the reasons why Hanumaan is worshipped on Tuesdays for the planet Mars and Saturdays for Saturn. If one worships Hanumaan or takes his name, Saturn and his malice is always kept at bay.

Poker Mistakes

Many New Players Making Old Mistakes

Common mistakes made in seven-card stud

Hi. Come on in. Feeling the need of healthful nutrition for our neglected bodies, I have gathered an assortment of fresh fruits. The have a good taste and are high in fiber; highly salubrious. Let’s talk about new players and mistakes. Your opponents are making money from your mistakes. If you didn’t make any mistakes, about the only way your opponents would get your money would be to get lucky and outdraw you.

One of the assignments I give my Poker Rooms students is to constantly monitor themselves for mistakes in their play. I now give you the same admonition. Before making any move at the poker table, ask yourself, “Is this is a mistake?” Train yourself by practicing that question over and over — before taking any action at the table. If what you are about to do isn’t a mistake, go ahead and do it. If you determine that it is a mistake, don’t do it. It’s that simple. Today, we’ll look at some low- and medium-limit seven- card stud mistakes. Another time, we’ll check out hold’em.

First, you’re holding a small four-flush on fourth street. You’ve seen four of your needed suit in other players’ upcards. That’s too many. Then, a voice in the back of your head says, “There are too many hearts out, but what the heck, I haven’t played a hand in more than 20 minutes. I’m gonna go for it — next time, I’ll be good.” I doubt it. Next time, it will be easier to slip.

Second Mistake Second, when the only value of your hand in very early position on third street is large overcards versus what’s on the board, calling is often a mistake. Generally, you want to play a hand like this from late position against one player. If you insist on playing it from an early position, forget about calling, because you’ll end up with too many opponents. You’d better raise and substantially narrow the field. Your best chance of winning is to eliminate the straight and flush draws and then pair up a big card, bigger than any pair your opponent could be holding. Players entering a pot on third street with a small pair and a small sidecard is another big mistake I’ve often seen. The only real improvement to such a hand is to make trips. They can’t make two big pair because they have no big card to pair.

Compounding this error by continuing to play when they pair that small sidecard is another big mistake I’ve seen many new (and old) poker room players make. Fives and threes is just not much of a poker hand at the low and medium limits. About the only hand that hand will beat is one pair. Next, players who check on seventh street without looking at their last card (“check dark”) do so mostly to stop someone else from betting. The implied threat is, “I check before look- ing to see if I made my hand, so if you bet, I might raise, so watch out.” The problem is, you are acting without information. You might intimidate an opponent into checking along, and then when you look and see that you made your hand, you missed a bet. Also, if a strong opponent makes any kind of hand, he’s going to bet despite your implied threat.

That puts the “threat” back onto you, and now you must decide whether he bet because he made a winning hand or because you have shown weakness. I’ve seen this next mistake a hundred times in public poker rooms when players let their egos into the game. One player will raise another player’s bet on an early street, not because of the value of his hand, but because he doesn’t like the other player. “You raised me last hand, so I raise you, wise guy.” The initial bettor’s ego isn’t going to stand for that. “Oh yeah? Well, back at you, buddy.” So, we have these two players warring, with neither of them strong enough to have stood the first raise. As I watch, I know that in about a minute and a half, one of these guys is going to be kicking himself in the butt for ever having gotten involved in this hand. The other will be congratulating himself on his brilliant play.

Bad Days We’ve all experienced days when we just can’t seem to pick up a starting hand, and to make matters worse, keep getting hit with the low card on third street. The mistake is tossing in your forced bet and your garbage hand along with it. The problem with that is, for instance, you might have paired one of your cards on fourth street, had everyone check, and then made trips on fifth street and a full house on sixth street. (Admittedly, that’s a stretch, but I’ve seen such things happen.) Finally, not calling on seventh street without knowing for certain that the bettor has you beat is another common error. If you have any reasonable chance, even with only a fair hand, it usually is best to call for that one last bet on seventh street. If you are beat, you lose one more bet. However, if you throw away the best hand, you lose a whole pot. Keep asking yourself, “Is this a mistake?”

We really made short work of all that fresh fruit. I feel more healthy already. But, I still require repose. Take a couple of peaches and kill the light on your way out. Roy West, author of the bestseller 7 Card Stud, the Complete Course in Winning (available from Card Player), continues to give his successful Poker Room lessons in Las Vegas to both tourists and locals. Mc Ren - The Voice Of The Streets Of Compton

MC Ren aka Lorenzo Jerald Patterson was born in Compton on June the 14th, 1969.
MC Ren became part of the notorious NWA group after leaving high school. He was integrated into the group after NWA had released its first CD, NWA And The Posse.

Carrying the infamous nickname of The Villain, MC Ren is known for his qualities as a lyricist. Along with Ice Cube, the talented rapper wrote most of NWA s lyrics. The overwhelming success of Straight Outta Compton propelled NWA to the top. Controversy and acclaim followed.

After a dispute with Ice Cube that lead to the emcee’s departure from the group, Mc Ren became the main lyricist for NWA.

In 1992, MC Ren released his first solo album, Kizz My Black Azz. The same year, the skilled emcee converted to Islam.

The album went platinum and was followed by a second album, Shock Of The Hour in 1993.

MC Ren faced a terrible drama when his friend and collaborator DJ Train died in a house fire, before the release of his third album, The Villain In Black.

In 1998, Mc Ren released another album, Ruthless For Life.

He then left Ruthless Records.

Mc Ren is featured on Dr Dre 2001 album. He also appears on Public Enemy’s recent Rebirth Of A Nation album and on numerous other artists album as well.

Mc Ren has a solid reputation for leaving a murderous lyrical carnage when he spits his rhymes:

“I’m putting my energy into bustin’ rhymes. I’m a lyricist and that’s what I want to be recognized for. I’m not about flossin’ and tryin’ to be harder than I am. I respect rap and I respect artists who sell records based on how tight their skills are, not on how much hype they make up or how many girls, cars and homes they get for props in their videos. Bustin’ rhymes is why fools got into rap in the first place and that’s why I’m here.

(Mc Ren)

He is respected by many emcees in the game. Nas refers to him in his recent Hip Hop Is Dead album So who is on your top 10, is it MC Shan or Mc Ren?

Contributing to dropping the N-bomb onto the world with his NWA partners in crime, MC Ren is one of those living legends who put Compton on the map.

MC Ren and his NWA fellows contributed to help black folks change their vision of things and to gain confidence.

Amazing Trivia Part 1

I admit it .. I LIKE trivia, tho it serves no purpose for me since I can never remember any to bring up in conversation. But still, it is fun, so I’ve created this list of amazing trivia that I found to be absolutely riveting.

1. Snails can sleep up to 3 years.

Not so amazing actually since I managed to sleep thru 6 years of jr. high and high school. And when you think about it, what do snails have to do all their lives? Sure, they leave great slime trails and make excellent targets for salt shakers and little boys, but other than that there’s not much more to do but sleep after an exhausting run across a sidewalk.

2. American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first-class.

Until I read this, I was convinced that there was an olive missing from my salad, yet no one would believe me. Now I am vindicated! I am now searching for proof that the airlines have taken one peanut from each bag .. I’ll keep you posted.

3. An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.

After reading this, I realized that I know of many people with the same problem! But that’s an article about politicians I’m working on. For me, it’s usually that my eyes are bigger than my stomach…

4. Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

Well, I’d like to see anyone keep this up long enough to actually lose 150 calories. Now that I think about it, I DON’T want to see…

5. Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland because he doesn’t wear pants.

This is completely understandable.. I mean, who wants to look at a duck with no pants on? Besides, I understand that it is the law for all birds to wear pants in the city limits of Finland.

6. If you pass gas consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
I tried to prove or disprove this, but two things stopped me … I couldn’t stand to look at a bowl of chili after the third day, and my girlfriend threatened to leave me … although it was kinda hard to tell what she was really saying with that gasmask on.

7. In ancient Egypt, priests plucked EVERY hair from their bodies, including their eyebrows and eyelashes.
Now, this piece of trivia leaves ALOT to the imagination, which is probably a good thing. BUT, I would like to point out, you’d have to be pretty limber to get some on those hairs .. nuff said.

8. The ant always falls over on its right side when intoxicated.
I know this trivia fact isn’t true ’cause I’ve gone drinking with my ants several times and I’ve watched them fall over in several different directions… usually they tend to fall on my uncles tho.

9. The average human eats eight spiders in their lifetime at night.
I don’t know about this fact … I’ve seen several spiders at night and never once felt compelled to eat one. Though I hear that spider is tasty if barbequed correctly.

10. And now for our final fun trivia fact:

Females Lions do the lions share of the work … Males tend to sun themslves alot and some lions mate over 50 times a day… No wonder the females do all the work.

Keith Boyd - Artist Review

The truth is we all need inspiration. Where we all find it is very personal. I find it in the monk and the octopus. I find it in the Phoenix. We all need rebirth. Some of us are reborn all the time some of us never and some of us are forced by the fire to change. God blew a breath of fate on my back when I saw Keith Boyd at the Acid Mothers Temple show at the Casbah recently.

Having known Keith from SDSU and sharing the stage with him in bands from the mid and early 80’s I knew this was going to be a good thing. His reappearance in my life has been a kind of rebirth. I’ve known the intensity of this artist for 20 years and he’s only become a better craftsman in the 10 years I didn’t see him. How often do we get to have a close close friend reappear after disappearing for 10 years? A handful of times in a lifetime? There is meaning here.

His credentials seem impeccable. Keith is heavily influenced by his time in the Peace Corp in Mauritania Africa. He got some kind of intense sickness there like in the Paul Bowles novel The Sheltering Sky and heard and saw art and music in a way that can only be explained for me through his near death experience and years in the shimmering desert of my imagination that is Mauritania. He’s been doing etching, painting, music and books for the 20 years I’ve known him. He’s also this year been christened the special educator of the year in North County. He does these special art shows for kids and helps them express themselves in a way that gives meaning to everyone who is touched by them, but especially the students. Sometimes only teachers can understand that when given a medium like art, a student can shine. I mean shine.

Now, I see Keith as a writer as well. The music that finds him (music does find you) is special. Only a few can be so blessed to understand so many unique kinds of music. He’s also making a very unique brand of music nowadays.

Here’s how he explains it, “This morning I built a three hour long pyramid of powdery locust wings. It stacked up on itself and slowly began speaking to me. I heard the weathering effect of dry wind over what felt like a thousand years. I refused to let it converge into a riff or recognizable pattern. I just keep working on the masonry of sound until it got so big the walls hummed. After finally letting it seep away I stood up and realized that my chest was still vibrating to its frequency. I walked out into ancient Sumeria and now even an hour or so later I can still catch glimpses of it in the corners of my eyes. When we shun form we open up to the higher powers.” If that doesn’t make you want to play music then maybe you shouldn’t, ever.

Check out one of his reviews and how he uses his African experiences to describe heavy, hard music. “In Africa, the chieftains of many tribal groups maintain wooden sculptures depicting the power of their male aggression. These carvings are grimacing beasts out of whose penises sprout leering faces. The faces in turn often issue forth many more faces.

These heads spring out of every orifice and with bared teeth, threaten in every direction. These forms are highly prized and fiercely protected. They are given offerings of food, millet beer, milk and even blood to ensure that their power remains intact and strong. It strikes me that this externalized embodiment of male energy and sexuality has many parallels in our own culture.

Consider the SUV. These massive, barge-like vehicles are treated with the same deference and passion shown by the African chieftains towards their sculptures. We rub them and shine them. We feed them massive offerings of gasoline and accessorize them with everything from custom license plates to spinning rims. These vehicles have gone from being a conveyance to transport one from point A to point B into another type of conveyance altogether. These vehicles transport and transmit our status, energy and power to the outside world. From within their fortress-like environs we gaze out upon an inferior and diminished world.

The message is clear, ‘I have power! I have money! Look upon my mightiness and fear me!’ I suppose that men have always fetishized vehicles. While it’s an old joke that a large vehicle is a type of compensation for some lack in masculinity, I think that the opposite is actually the truth. Men love these outsized vehicles because they project and embody the power men have enjoyed and enforced throughout most of human history. The aggressive spirit of male energy is often Siamese-twinned with male sexuality. Rape is a male crime. Its prevalence in all societies, throughout all time is emblematic of the underlying frustration that males experience in trying to assert control and dominance over others. Of course we are speaking in generalities here.

We’re looking at a big picture scenario and trying to make sense of the symbols of male power and aggression so common in our world. By no means is every man a rapist. Not even owners of Hummers! Another vehicle for this same energy is music…..”

He didn’t much care for this Alien Ant Farm record. Neither did we. This is one of his only negative reviews for this site.

If you need inspiration look no further. Have a look at the paintings, start to dream, remember old friends, go deep underwater in your mind and experience the outer space that is Keith Boyd.

How To Get Rich and Die Quick!

It is funny how web site promotion can suddently plunge you into literary exploits…

I am currently at work, my bosses left for the meeting so I can relax a little and perhaps even write a short article for this ezine.

It dawned on me that as close as we are in everyday life, we really are isolated from each other by mundane tasks and repetitive procedures we are bound to engage in. Although, why should we even care about these issues as we usually think about making money and living our lives?

Naturally, we are social being and cannot escape intangible social obligations and needs, yet we also guard our privacy with zeal. Now, as write these lines, another, more important imperative pushes me to change the subject completely and address some linguistic issues. As a writer, I am purposefully write a text, I am also a petential reader, but as I imagine myself reading this article, I am really at loss as far my environment and consequently attention span… Is modern literary approach with deconstructivist attitude more in tune with human capabilities that traditional writing? It is for you and me to decide…. I call you imaginary audience, and I can become the same when I run across this article by accident and do not recognize my own writing offhand…

As I worked on tlservice.com www.tlservice.com (all subsidiary right are reserved) I also worked not with literary but predominantly with conceptual and color issues…

Audiobooks - A Brief History of Spoken Word Audio books

Downloadable audiobooks are one of fastest growing sectors of the Internet. Every week seems to bring new publishers and big name title audio books for MP3, ipod and to burn to CDs. But is this all new? You might think they’re a recent invention, but you’d be mistaken. But where did they come from? What were the first titles and can you still get them?

What you’ll read:

* When do you think audiobooks started? * Why Audiobooks have become so popular recently? * So when were audiobooks “invented” * Who were the first audio book publishers? * The 3 reasons why audiobooks have exploded. * Where to find “original” audiobooks

* When do you think audiobooks started?: Do audiobooks seem pretty recent to you? I can just about remember “the first” audiobooks on cassette being around in the mid 80s. Then again I’m really old so maybe your first memory is more recent!

I recall some really huge box sets for things like lord of the Rings (sold on ebay…wish I hadn’t!) and they were abridged (abridged means significantly cut in length for whatever reason)

Since then there’s been an explosion in the audiobook market. For millions of people, along with mp3 music, audiobooks are part and parcel of the Internet. Yet another one of many ways to get and digest information for fun or practical purposes!

* Why Audiobooks have become so popular recently?: Using myself as an example: Once I realized just how good they were for certain things there was no stopping me -

* They’re excellent for learning. Be it business, motivation, or in my own case right now, learning Swedish (audiobooks are brilliant for language training).

* They’re great for kids learning to by all accounts but I can’t give you my own experience there as I’m 36!

* Great for pleasure “reading! For fiction when normal books would be impossible, (e.g., in the dark or when driving or working out) or you just want the book pushed “into” you rather than having to absorb though your eyes.

* So when were audiobooks “invented”: Around the early 1980s maybe? No.

With the current focus on audiobook CDs, DVD, downloadable WMA, MP3s, iPods etc you may think they’re very recent. But you’d be wrong. Audiobooks started many years ago.

To understand this it’s important to define exactly what an audio book is.

* Basically audio books are simply books that are recorded to be heard, instead of read.

* So have they been around for as long as recording has been possible?

Not quite. To be more specific, it’s safe to say they were first introduced just over 50 years ago. That is in terms of being available outside of professional broadcasting circles.

* Who were the first audio book publishers?: Robin Whitten, the editor and founder of the only magazine which is dedicated solely to the audio book industry credits Caedmon (now a subsidiary of Harper Collins Publishers) as having started recordings of literature as far back as 50 years ago.

He tells us that Caedmon, at that time a small company in New York, started recording the audio of great authors and poets of the 1950s. Specifically, he said some of the earliest recordings were by greats such as Dylan Thomas, T.S. Eliot, Fitzgerald and Robert Frost.

At this time they were simply recorded while doing their own works and made as vinyl records. Not exactly great for jogging but these early recordings can arguably be defined as the first collection of audio books.

However, the transition of these book recordings into audiocassette tapes didn’t happen until the late 1970s up to the 1980s when we see the market size, first in audio cassette, growing until accepted by the more “sophisticated” early adopter profile consumer.

The audio book phenomenon though didn’t really kick off until the mid to late 1990s.

* The 3 reasons why audiobooks have exploded:

Not surprisingly, as with so many technology related products:

1) Ease of use/Quality: Vinyl - Limited on use. Try playing one in a commuter train or while driving. Err no. Oops scratched it, damn it’s ruined etc.

Tape cassettes - Total pain, limited storage and they self destructed with alarming regularity.

Early portable CD players were’t actually all that portable – If you had one and ever moved to sharply while using it you’ll know what I mwean!

Now with mp3 players & ipods there are no moving parts so you can listen when working out, running or anything else where a CD player would be useless. You can even get mp3 players built into sunglasses (Oakley) that are designed specifically for hardcore sports training!

2) Cost: Early CD players and later, MP3 players were very expensive. Car CD units, wow they really did cost a lot!

But now CD players of all types and MP3 players have become so cheap that the hardware cost barrier has disappeared.

3) Ease of “Delivery” With broadband internet becoming the norm it has become super easy to get audiobooks “anytime –anyplace – anywhere” 100 meg download, no problem!

* Where to find “original” audiobooks: And if you want original audiobooks – Can you get them? If you are still interested in “going back in time” you can get the original book recordings that started this audio book industry.

Some of those early 1950s analog recordings by Caedmon which were performed by the greats of those days can be bought online.

You can find that classic you have always dreamt of in audio book format if you search hard enough on the Internet where you’ll find audiobooks of a size, quality and sophistication that would have been seen as science fiction even 15 years ago!

Poker Tournaments

Poker tournaments are where the real money is made at online casinos. For people new to online gambling there is a misconception that all poker play is player vs. computer—no different than video poker machines you’ll find at any land-based casino. While there are a great deal of video poker games available online, there are also plenty of games to play against live players.

The real action in online poker can only be found in poker tournaments. Online poker tournaments work in very much the same way as brick and mortar casino tournaments. Players compete against each other and move their way up in the ranks as the pot grows. If you don’t bring your A game, you won’t stand a good chance to make it very far in the tournament. There are poker tournaments available for both beginner and expert poker players. To qualify for an expert tournament, you will have to pass a qualifying round. This ensures only the top players will be competing.

Online poker tournaments are a bit different than standard casino play. For instance, in poker the bluff is a large part of the game. Players get to know each other’s habits. One player might start tapping his foot when he has a good hand—a pretty obvious signal. In online poker tournaments, you don’t get to physically see whom you’re playing with. Some different skill sets are needed.

Because you can’t see other players, you need to learn how to read players’ habits differently. In online poker tournaments, there are a number of different “tells” that can give you a sense of a player’s style, and even his hand, by the speed of play—how fast he draws or bets. Many poker tournaments also include chat rooms where players can trade information. Online casinos aim to make the playing experience as natural as possible.

Dangers of Stress While Playing UK Bingo

There are various reasons why people begin playing UK bingo, such as for money, for company, for experiencing that rush of adrenaline, or simply to have a good time. Peaks and pitfalls, highs and lows, thrill and kills, you name it – online bingo provides all these and more. Just as in any other game where stakes are high, this heightened excitement has its own fair share of positive and negative impact on the players.

Over the years, the popularity of bingo has traversed all over the world. Since the time the online bingo version was introduced, enthusiasts of the game have been able to play from within the confines of their homes. However, there are many players who still prefer soaking in the excitement of the game by playing it at the local town hall or the casino.

Bingo- The Stress Magnet

The excitement involved in a game of bingo can also drive a person to the other side of the spectrum. Getting too engrossed in the game, one’s excitement level could fluctuate; this could have a negative effect on those who have high blood pressure or heart problems.
According to some studies, people who play bingo are prone to get easily worked up and consequently have high-stress, high-powered careers. It has been observed that work related stress is far less than the stress generated while playing bingo. There have been several instances of people having lost their jobs because of bingo-related stress impacting their performance at work.

Violence

Other than the health related drawbacks, bingo is also known to ignite passions and can cause players to get involved in violent fights. At bingo halls and public bingo games, it has been noticed that people who are by nature, short-tempered tend to be easily drawn into fights. This could have disastrous consequences, if someone is hurt.

In spite of the above-mentioned risks, bingo can still be an enjoyable stress-buster if players accept that it is only a game, take care of their health and control their behavior.
